Using Zinc Air chemistry, the system uses oxygen from the atmosphere as an active ingredient which allows the battery to pack in an enormous amount of energy for their size & weight. These hearing aid batteries all have a small hole in the case that allows air into the battery, which is used as part of the chemical reaction.
